Doing Good while enjoying a cup of best coffee

Drink coffee and provide schooling for children at the same time? With MAXIM coffee, it’s possible. The daily pick-me-up at Cocoon Hotels not only tastes great, but is also part of our commitment to sustainability. For every kilo of MAXIM coffee sold, one US dollar is donated to the aid organization Semillas.

The story began more than 10 years ago when two friends visited the Colombian aid organization “Semillas”. They came to the decision to give children from disadvantaged families the chance to build a future far away from drugs and violence through school education. Thus, step by step, the dream developed, which has since been realized.

This non-governmental institution develops programs for the benefit of Colombian children and young people who are generally oppressed by circumstances such as violence, social injustice and inequality. The supported aid organization Semillas also collaborates with the “Fundacion Pies Descalzos”, which operates under the auspices of the Colombian singer Shakira. The “Fundacion Pies Descalzos” has also made it its business to give children from disadvantaged families in Colombia access to education. They receive regular meals at school – a reason for parents to send their children to school.

When you choose to enjoy a cup of coffee at our Cocoon Hotels, you are supporting educational activities for Colombian children and youth that promote their self-esteem, human values, cultural identity, and cognitive as well as technical skills. These, in turn, enable them and their families to acquire more equitable and dignified opportunities for life.
